Israel News for Kids: The Magazine #1 – Israel’s Flag
Abstract
This issue discusses the meaning of the flag, and its importance to national pride.
Students will learn about the historical origin of the flag, and when it became a national symbol.
Moreover, students will learn the story of the sequence of events leading up to the establishment of the official flag of the State of Israel that we know today – from Herzl’s proposal for the seven-star flag, to the flag with the blue stripes and the Magen David.
Students will read the fascinating story of the “Ink Flag” that was raised in Eilat during the War of Independence, in “Operation Ovda.”
They will get to know the phrase: “Show Tzion a miracle and a flag” – from a poem by Noah Rosenblum.
Finally, this issue provides fun games students can play and enjoy.
