This year – after October 7th and the ongoing war in Israel – educators are carefully considering how to commemorate Yom HaZikaron and celebrate Yom Ha’atzmaut. While we must confront the pain, loss and challenges; we also must highlight messages of unity and hope. Since every educational setting is unique, we know that most teachers cannot use completely pre-packaged materials. On the other hand, we also know that teachers have limited time to research and choose relevant and engaging materials. Therefore, in this project, we have carefully curated the most timely and powerful resources – stories, songs, and texts – to share with your students this year. In addition, we have provided suggestions for concrete ways to use these resources in an active way in either the classroom or school ceremony.
