Introduction:
Display in the classroom various representations of Hanukkah Menorahs (drawings, pictures, postcards, canvases etc.), and ask the students to express their preference for one of them by justifying their choice.
Ask the question: “ What do you like in this Hanukkah Menorah? ”
Guide students with criteria such as color, shape, style (modern or ancient). Describe and analyze the techniques used in these creations: paint, collage, choice of colors etc.
Then present the salt painting technique to students, with which they will create the Hanukkah Menorah.
Process of the activity:
The 4 steps, as well as the list of necessary material, are detailed in the document:
Step 1: prepare the material
Step 2: prepare the background
Step 3: create the Hanukkah Menorah
Step 4: framing
Conclusion :
Suggest students to give a name to their work, and to dedicate it to the person of their choice (mother, father, etc.) This will enable them to further personalize their painting.
