Abstract

The words of Israel’s national anthem have taken on special meaning for Jews around the
world since October 7th. It has been sung with great emotion by celebrities like Omer
Adam at the rally in Washington, Yishai Ribo with hostage families, and Noa Kirel at NetsMaccabi game in NY.

Activity Idea:
Divide the class into 5 groups. Each group will receive a key phrase from Hatikva. Each group will
have to make a poster or collage that visually represents the meaning of their specific phrase that
includes both the original text and its translation. Students can present their work to each other and
you sing the whole anthem with each group only singing their phrase.
